After having a pretty good start to running this year, at least with the amount of miles, I've been sidelined by my Stupid Run. I twisted my knee Monday after trying to run on a wet wooden ramp. It didn't seem too bad at the time and matter of fact I ran 3 miles on the Treadmill Wednesday. While my knee twinged a bit, it wasn't too bad.
Then I went for my long run yesterday. Just over 8 miles on an out and back. A little after half way my knee started twinging again. During my walk breaks it was ok, but when I started running again, I limped for the first minute or two. Any type of incline was painful. Starting to get a little concerned here.
When I got home I did my normal cool down but in heading upstairs I noticed I had trouble supporting myself with the right leg. I can walk straight just fine but when I do any type of twisting or supporting on one leg while turning my knee really bugs me. Going downstairs is all kinds of fun.
We went to the local high school basketball game last night. I had an old brace that I used probably 10 years ago when I last twisted my knee. Problem is that it's only really a compression wrap and it kept sliding down. At the game we sat mid-way up in the bleachers but thankfully they use half height steps so I going down wasn't as bad as it could be.
I guess I'm done running for a week or so. I might even try to find a brace that has stiff side supports just so I don't tweak this thing any more. I'm pretty frustrated in myself. Hopefully I'll learn that I need to pay more attention to the weather when I run.
